GA/R: Ashaiman records gains under NDC's administration

Nine months into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, the Ashaiman Municipality is recording steady improvements in infrastructure, sanitation, education, health, and other key sectors.
At a community engagement forum held at Ashaiman-Lebanon, the Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, outlined the progress made so far while seeking feedback from residents.
He emphasised that road rehabilitation, the upgrading of educational facilities, and improved sanitation remain top priorities. Mr. Norgbey further assured residents of the government’s commitment to transforming Ashaiman’s image.
According to him, President John Dramani Mahama had promised to ensure the completion of major road projects within the municipality, and work is currently underway to deliver on that pledge before the end of his term.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Freeman Tsekpo, also addressed the issue of persistent flooding in the area, noting that measures are being put in place to mitigate the challenge.
On decongestion, Mr. Tsekpo pointed out that long trucks offloading foodstuffs along the Ashaiman main market road continue to obstruct traffic.
To resolve this, the Assembly has created a designated space for the trucks and expects the directive to take effect by the end of the week.
For many residents, the updates offered at the forum signalled a renewed effort by the government to address longstanding challenges while fostering community involvement in local governance.
