E/R: Girl, 10, burnt alive in fire disaster

A little girl has been burnt to death in a fire disaster at Akyem Gyadem Zongo near Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern region.
The 10-year-old girl was in bed with her mother and a four-year-old brother at the time of the disaster.
Jolted out of sleep by the inferno, the mother was able to save the little boy and herself.
Her distress screams brought neighbours to her aid but little could be done to save the 10-year-old girl.
The locals teamed up with the fire service to quench the flames after which the charred body of the victim was retrieved and deposited at the morgue.
An electrical fault is suspected to have been the cause of the fire.
