The Institute of Facility Management Ghana (IFMA Ghana Chapter) recently organised a national stakeholders forum on the theme "Facility Management as a Strategic Partner in Business Continuity, Efficiency, and Nation Building."

The event brought together engineers, surveyors, planners, academia, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the critical role of facility management in Ghana's socio-economic development.

Speaking at the forum, the President of IFMA Ghana Chapter, Sampson Opare Agyemang, emphasised that facility management has evolved into a strategic discipline that integrates people, place, and process to ensure operational resilience, cost efficiency, sustainability, and long-term value creation.

The forum aimed to:

- Create a unified national conversation around the strategic importance of facility management

- Foster collaboration among built environment professionals

- Engage government and policymakers in recognising facility management as a critical driver of productivity and national resilience

- Build partnerships between academia and industry

- Champion the development of a national framework positioning facility management as a strategic enabler of Ghana's growth

Mr Agyemang stressed that facility management is at work when hospitals function seamlessly, schools operate efficiently, and public offices deliver services effectively.

He urged attendees to move from awareness to action, promoting facility management as a national asset, driving efficiency, and contributing to Ghana's nation-building agenda.

The event was seen as a turning point for elevating standards, promoting certification and research, advocating policy recognition, and strengthening partnerships locally and globally.
