Fire destroys Mpasaso No. 2 D/A JHS

A devastating fire has destroyed the Mpasaso No. 2 D/A Junior High School in the Ahafo Ano South-West District of the Ashanti Region, leaving students unable to attend classes and disrupting academic activities.
The Monday evening inferno (February 3, 2025), which started in one of the blocks, quickly spread to other parts of the school, reducing four classroom blocks, a computer laboratory, offices, and their contents to ashes.
Speaking to Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah, the Assembly Member for the area, Charles K. Asare, said locals tried their best to control the fire but were unsuccessful.
He also accused the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) office in Tepa of failing to respond when called for assistance.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, Mr. Asare suspects arson, citing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As a result of the destruction, students have been unable to attend classes, bringing academic activities to a halt.
Mr. Asare has appealed to the government and relevant authorities to swiftly intervene and reconstruct the school to restore learning for the affected students.
