GNASSM mourns victims of military helicopter crash in Ashanti Region
The Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners (GNASSM) has expressed its deep condolences following the tragic crash of a Ghana Air Force Z9 military helicopter on Wednesday, 6 August 2025, which claimed the lives of eight military personnel.
The incident occurred in Brofoyedu, within the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
Authorities have since confirmed the deaths of all eight officials aboard the aircraft.
In an official statement released Thursday, GNASSM extended its heartfelt sympathies to the Government of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and most importantly, the bereaved families of the victims.
“We are deeply saddened by this devastating incident.
Our hearts go out to the families, friends, and colleagues of the departed.
We pray the souls of the departed rest in peace and that their families find strength during this difficult time,” said Godwin Nickleson Amarh, General Secretary of GNASSM.
The Association also affirmed its solidarity with the Government, the NDC, and the Ghana Armed Forces, pledging support during the national period of mourning.
“GNASSM stands in solidarity with all affected parties and honours the memories of the departed.
May their legacies be cherished and remembered with dignity,” the statement concluded.
