Ghana Embassy, Washington DC to begin Consular services Sept. 8
The Embassy of Ghana in Washington DC is set to resume Consular services on Tuesday, 8 September 2020 following the re-opening of Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for travels.
The Embassy, however, says to enforce COVID-19 safety protocols, it will no longer offer in-person visa services.
Individuals who are interested in acquiring visa services are required to do so online.
“Those who wish to acquire new passports, replace lost passports, or renew old passports are also required to submit their applications online and schedule in-person appointments to complete the mandatory biometric data process,” the Embassy said in a statement.
It added that “all prescribed COVID-19 protocols including social distancing, enhanced hygiene and sanitising as well as mandatory wearing of face masks on the Embassy premises will be enforced for all in-person appointments.”
The Embassy stated that all passports and visa applications must be submitted on its website www.ghanaembassydc.org
Prospective travellers to Ghana are to note the following:
· Passengers must arrive in Ghana with a negative COVID-19 test result that is not more than 72 hours old, from a reputable health facility.
· Every passenger will be required to disembark in Ghana wearing a face mask.
· All passengers will be required to undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test at the Accra Kotoka International Airport on arrival. Cost for the test will be borne by the passenger.
· Test results will be ready in 30 minutes, and those who test negative will be discharged to go home while those who test positive will be handed over to the Ghanaian Health Officials.
