Ghanapic-Ohio donates $3,500 to Appiatse fund

Ghanapic-Ohio, an NGO in the United States of America, has rallied support for funds from individuals, brands and churches in Colombus, Ohio, to donate to the Appiatse Support Fund.
The donation of USD 3,500 was made on behalf of the organisation by Ms Abena Boamah-Acheampong at a brief event on Thursday, 5 May 2022.
In her remarks, Ms Acheampong said giving back to the Appiatse community is a virtue and anything that affects Ghanaians affects those in the diaspora.
"We intend not to just give back but also to be part of the community", she said.
Mrs Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, a member of the Support Fund Committee, in her remarks, expressed her appreciation to the organisation for the donation.
She added that "although the fund has received some contributions, it is not sufficient considering the work that needs to be done. We want to restore their livelihoods as much as possible or close to what they had when the unfortunate incident happened".
Ghanapic's contribution, she said, will help in the rebuilding of Appiatse's model community, which is very significant and will help restore their livelihoods.
The Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund, Rev. Dr Joyce Rosalind Aryee, for her part, acknowledged their contribution and thanked the Boamah-Acheampong family.
Rev. Dr Aryee disclosed that the Appiatse Reconstruction Implementation Committee has opened tenders and selected two companies to speed up the construction of the Appiatse eco-friendly community.
"After the selection, the Support Fund Committee is expected to know exactly how much the Reconstruction team will require to complete the rebuilding of the Appiatse model community", she said.
