Interior Minister hails bravery of injured police officer

The Minister for the Interior,  Mohammed Mubaric Muntaka, has paid a visit to Sergeant Akocha Samuel, a police officer who was critically injured during an anti-robbery operation in the La area of Accra.

Sgt. Akocha, who was shot in the chest and leg during the operation, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Police Hospital in Accra.

The brave officer was part of a police team that responded to a robbery incident.

Despite sustaining life-threatening injuries, the team succeeded in apprehending two of the suspects.

The remaining culprits fled the scene and are currently being pursued as investigations continue.

During the visit, the Interior Minister commended Sgt. Akocha for his extraordinary bravery, dedication to duty, and commitment to the safety of Ghanaians.

He also conveyed the nation’s appreciation to the injured officer.

“I commend Sgt. Akocha for his bravery, dedication, and exceptional service to our country,” Mr Muntaka said.

“On behalf of a grateful nation, I extend my deepest gratitude and wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

The Minister also urged the medical team at the Police Hospital to provide Sgt. Akocha with the best possible care throughout his recovery journey.

This incident has once again brought to the fore the dangers security personnel face in the line of duty and has sparked calls for improved support and protection for officers on the front lines.

 

“May God bless Sgt. Akocha and all our gallant officers,” the Minister added. “God bless our homeland, Ghana.”
