Investigations reveal downdraft caused August 6 helicopter crash – Government
The government has disclosed that investigations into the August 6 helicopter disaster have determined that the crash was caused by a sudden loss of altitude and lift due to a downdraft.
Government spokesperson, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, who announced the findings, explained that the helicopter’s loss of altitude occurred without any change in power or pitch attitude, a condition consistent with a downdraft associated with rapidly changing environmental conditions over high terrain.
“The investigation concluded that the aircraft experienced a sudden downdraft, leading to a loss of lift and altitude,” Mr. Ofosu Kwakye stated.
“This phenomenon is common in areas with variable weather patterns and mountainous landscapes.”
He assured the public that relevant aviation authorities are reviewing the report’s recommendations to enhance flight safety measures and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The August 6 crash claimed several lives and drew national attention, prompting a comprehensive probe by aviation experts to determine the cause of the tragic event.
