January NSS allowance to be paid Tuesday, March 22 – NASPA

The National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has assured its members that all personnel will be paid their January allowance on Tuesday, 22 March 2022,
“Upon a series of deliberations with the management of the National Service Scheme (NSS), we can authoritatively confirm payment of an allowance for the month of January will be made on Tuesday, March 22,” a statement issued by the association and signed by its National President, Mr Emmanuel Brimpong Akosah disclosed.
The statement further implored the management of the scheme “to facilitate the payment of the allowance for the months of February and March in the shortest possible time.”
It also urged all national service personnel to “remain calm while the national leadership engages the management of the NSS and other stakeholders to find lasting solutions to avoid incurring untold hardship” of its members.
A group calling itself Concerned National Service Personnel (NSP) had earlier called on the government to pay the personnel their two-month allowance arrears.
According to the group, it is the mandate of the National Service Scheme (NSS) to ensure that priority sectors in the country do not lack the requisite human resources needed for development.
It noted, however, that this is hampered in a way, when “personnel mandated to augment the necessary sectors, are hungry and have no transport fare to commute to work.”
A statement issued by the group on Monday, 1 March 2022, noted: “Personnel poised to serve the nation, as part of their civic responsibility, have been deprived of their two-month payment unnecessarily with no prior information in that regard.”
The group registered its displeasure with the delay in processing and paying the allowance.
It further called on “all discerning and well-meaning national service personnel to join” in the quest to press home their demand.
