A petition dubbed ‘Justice for Ama Governor’ has been published to gather signatures.
The petition was sighted by Class News on Facebook user Ivy Enyo Nam’s timeline today Wednesday, 9 November 2022.
Ivy captioned her post: “She passed her exams, was so sure of getting called to the bar. She is active on social media and has a YouTube. A week to the ceremony, she has been informed she won't be called to [the] Bar. Ghana!!! PS. Kindly help by signing this petition.”

An image of Ama is attached and underneath is a statement that reads: “We want to petition against the injustice being inflicted on Ama Governor by the Ghana Legal Council. She has passed her exams and interview and she deserves to be called to the bar

The categories displayed on the petition are: Human Rights, LGBTQIA+, Women’s Rights and Workers’ Rights.
It was reported today November 9, 2022, that Ama Governor despite her successful completion of education to practice as a lawyer will not be called to the Ghana Bar.
The ceremony to officially welcome a new crop of lawyers to legal practice is set to happen, Friday, November 11.
Through a letter, the 23-year-old was informed by the Secretary to the General Legal Council that she was barred, until otherwise informed, from joining her colleagues during Friday's pretigious ceremony.
Apparently, a faceless citizen who identified as a concerned citizen reported the social media notable for lacking 'good character'.
The General Legal Council, it is reported, has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the complaint from the so called concerned citizen who is said to have cited a YouTube video curated by Ms Governor allegedly displaying “conduct unbecoming of an application to be called to the Bar.”
Social media has gone bananas due to this news with diverse views being shared.

In a past video, she also narrated her sexual experiences with both men and women.
Some speculate, this LGBTQIA+ lifestyle is the concern that was raised by the faceless citizen who allegedly contacted General Legal Council.
Others opine it is her fashion choices.
When Ghana's Parliament reconvened on Tuesday, October 26 2022, it had a number of matters to attend to. One of the most important of these matters was the controversial Promotion of Proper Human Sexuality and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2021.
Last year, the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament temporarily suspended public hearings regarding the so called Anti-LGBTQIA+ bill.
Time constraints was the cited reason for the suspension of the hearings. Chairman of the Committee was Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi.
“We haven’t finished with the public hearings. There are other memoranda that we have received but we are constrained with time and we cannot predict what time we would have to meet and continue,” he noted.
Prior, Thursday, 11 November 2021, during the first public hearing, groups that were in support of the bill posited that it as one that adequately reflects the views of a Ghanaian majority, while the groups against the bill decried it as one that breaches human rights and further argued it in fact goes against Ghana’s cultural values.
The Committee was expected to give audience to the authors of over 150 memoranda on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values bill.
