LaDMA intensifies sanitation efforts with community-wide clean-up exercise
The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has embarked on a major community-wide clean-up exercise as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and promote public health within the municipality.
The exercise, held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, was led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Alfredos Nii Anyetei, and brought together Assembly staff, janitorial teams, personnel from the Ghana Prisons Service, and other stakeholders.
Participants undertook sweeping activities, desilted gutters, cleared weeds, and collected refuse across several parts of the municipality, including La Township, the Accra Mall enclave, and the Airport Bypass area.
The initiative formed part of the Assembly’s broader strategy to improve environmental conditions, promote proper sanitation practices, and discourage indiscriminate dumping of waste in public spaces.
Residents and commuters who witnessed the exercise praised the Assembly for the intervention and stressed the need for collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Addressing participants and residents during the exercise, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei urged community members, traders, and transport operators to actively support the Assembly’s sanitation agenda.
He emphasized that environmental cleanliness remains a shared responsibility and called for sustained cooperation to ensure cleaner and safer communities across the municipality.
