Nancy Pelosi to address Ghana’s Parliament Wednesday
General News

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America, Nancy Pelosi will be addressing Ghana’s Parliament in Accra next week.
Ghana’s Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, made the announcement on the floor on Friday, 26 July 2019.
“On Wednesday, 31 July, the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States, Rt. Hon. Nancy Patricia Pelosi, is scheduled to address the House [Ghana’s Parliament] at 10 a.m”, the Majority Leader announced, adding: “Accordingly, members are urged to be punctual to grant audience to our august guest”.
The U.S. House of Representatives is the lower of the two legislative bodies in the U.S. government. It has 435 members, with the number of representatives per state dependent upon that state's population. House members serve two-year terms. Rather than represent their entire state, as Senate members do, they represent a specific district.
Pelosi will be among a delegation of U.S. lawmakers to visit Ghana.
Ghana’s Parliament is expected to adjourn sine die on Friday, 2 August 2019.
