Deputy A-G visits #GalamseyMustFall Protest gathering, commends police

Deputy Attorney-General and Deputy Minister for Justice, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, on Monday, paid a visit to the #GalamseyMustFall demonstration grounds located near the forecourt of the Flagstaff House, where he commended the Ghana Police Service for their professional handling of the protest.
According to Dr. Srem Sai, the demonstrators expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements, indicating that the police had provided them with "optimal protection" throughout the event.
The protest, which had been scheduled to run into the early hours of the morning, concluded peacefully ahead of time.
Dr. Srem Sai, who interacted with protest leaders at the scene, conveyed the appreciation of President John Dramani Mahama and Attorney-General Dr. Dominic Ayine to the rank and file of the Police Service for ensuring that the demonstrators were able to exercise their constitutional right to peaceful assembly without incident.
The #GalamseyMustFall protest, organised to demand more decisive action against illegal mining, drew significant public attention and saw participation from environmental activists, civil society organisations, and concerned citizens.
Security observers and rights advocates have since praised both the demonstrators and the police for upholding democratic norms during the event.
