A policeman has allegedly shot himself dead in the washroom of a building under renovation along the Graphic Road.

There has been no official confirmation of the cause of death but sources say he committed suicide.

Workers on site say they only noticed the situation after police officers started swamping the site.

“Certainly, it has been confirmed a police officer has passed on, but for now we cannot say the cause of death. It could be an accident or otherwise. Investigations will establish the cause of death.”

In a statement on the official Facebook page of the Ghana Police Service, the law enforcement agency said it is “investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of one of our own, a police officer, who allegedly shot himself while on duty today, April 27, 2022, at the Graphic Road, Abossey Okai, Accra”.
