Row over unauthorized state funeral for Asoma Banda

A disagreement has emerged within the Abu Banda family over plans for an unauthorized funeral ceremony for the late Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda, scheduled to take place at the State House in Accra.
At a press conference held at the Abu Banda Mosque, the head of the family and Chief of Banda in the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Mohammed Abu Banda, voiced the family’s strong disapproval of the event, describing it as unauthorized and inconsistent with the family’s wishes.
Alhaji Mohammed emphasized the family’s commitment to preserving the legacy, dignity, and religious values of the late Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda.
He stated categorically that Alhaji Abdullah Khalifa, popularly known as Alhaji Abomour, does not have the mandate or authority to organize any funeral ceremony on behalf of the family.
He further urged the public and relevant stakeholders to disregard any funeral arrangements not sanctioned by the family, and reaffirmed the family’s intention to honour the late Alhaji in accordance with his personal and religious wishes.
