TDC stops Chinese developer from encroaching on public streets at Community 10

Tensions are rising in Community 10 after residents accused a Chinese property developer of disregarding building regulations by extending construction beyond the approved boundaries.
According to eyewitnesses, the developer has allegedly built structures that spill into public streets, obstructing pedestrian walkways and narrowing key access routes within the neighbourhood.
Concerned residents say the move not only violates zoning laws but also threatens public safety by restricting emergency vehicle access.
“We feel like our community is being taken over.
They are building into the roads, and no one seems to be stopping them,” said one resident, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal.
Responding to concerns of residents, the TDC Ghana Limited task force came to stop the development.
They warn that unchecked encroachment of this kind could set a dangerous precedent.
They stressed Ghana’s building regulations explicitly prohibit construction on public right-of-way, and offenders can face demolition orders or hefty fines.
“This is not just about one building; it’s about respect for our laws and the safety of our people,” the task force added.
