V/R: Five perish in accident at Worwoenu

There has been an accident involving an Opel Astra taxi cab and a tipper truck loaded with sand at Worwoenu on the Ziope-Akatsi road in the Volta Region.
The accident occurred between 11.30am -12 pm on Wednesday, 27 September 2023 at Worwoenu.
The taxi, which had six passengers aboard who were market women including a pregnant woman and a four-year-old child was travelling from Ziope to Akatsi when the incident occurred.
An eyewitness, Kobby told Class FM’s Volta Regional Correspondent Kingsley Attitsogbe that the taxi in an attempt to dodge a pothole upon arrival at Worwoenu collided head-on with the tipper truck.
Two of the women died on the spot together with the 4-year-old child and the driver of the taxi.
The third woman who was heavily pregnant, however, survived.
A family member of the pregnant woman disclosed that she lost the baby and had to go through a Caesarean session at on arrival at the hospital in order to remove the baby.
The mother is, however, responding to treatment.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Morgue in Akatsi.
Reacting to the incident on Ho FM’s Adanu Morning Show, a driver who plies the Ho-Aflao and Ziope-Akatsi route, Saviour appealed to government to fix the roads to avoid more carnage.
According to the driver, the road has become a death trap on which several lives have perished.
