‘We’ve not been involved in any spillage activity’ – Bui Power

Power-generating company Bui Power Authority has refuted claims that 1,500 residents of Buipe have been displaced as a result of flooding from the spillage of the Bui Dam.
This was contained in a statement issued by the power-generating company on Tuesday, 26 September 2023, signed by its Manager, Corporate Affairs, Akua Sakyi.
The Authority stated emphatically that: “We have not been involved in any spillage activity.”
The statement continued that: “It is important to note that whenever there is a need to engage in a spillage, comprehensive measures are taken to provide adequate notice and education to all communities along the downstream river channels and all stakeholders.”
It added that: “These measures are implemented to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during and after a spillage.”
There had been reports that some 1500, people resident at Buipe had been displaced due to the floods from the spillage of the Bui dam.
