Youth Ministry mourns El-Wak Stadium victims, vows to boost safety in recruitment
The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has expressed deep regret over the tragic stampede at El-Wak Stadium on November 12, 2025, that claimed the lives of six young Ghanaians during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.
In a press release signed by Minister Mr George Opare Addo, the Ministry condoled with the families of the deceased and wished for a quick recovery for those injured.
The statement acknowledged the aspirations of the young people who sought to serve their nation and emphasised that their passing is a loss to both their families and the country.
The Ministry highlighted the importance of mitigating unemployment among Ghana's youth, a key concern for the government.
It will work closely with the Ghana Armed Forces to investigate the incident thoroughly and implement safeguards to prevent such accidents in future recruitment drives.
"The safety, dignity, and empowerment of the Ghanaian youth remain at the heart of our mandate," the statement read.
The Ministry is committed to supporting measures that safeguard the welfare of youth in future recruitment and empowerment initiatives.
The souls of the departed were wished "perfect peace" in the prayers of the nation.
