Ghanaian reggae artiste and physician, Nii Lante Okunka Blankson popularly known as Nii Lante has called on the government and successive governments to increase the number of national ambulances to match the population of the country.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently inaugurated 307 ambulances for distribution across the various constituencies.

Speaking in an interview with Prince Benjamin on the Class Drive (CD) on Class91.3FM on Tuesday, 4 February 2020, the artiste who is also a medical doctor and sang about the no ambulance situation described the pageantry accompanying the distribution of the ambulances as impressive.

He said:"That's the way the bourgeois politics goes. I was expecting it [Pump and pageantry ] and they did it and I don't think it's something new. They celebrated it and ofcourse it also made people more aware that this thing had been done.    "It was on TV live, we had an address by the President, we had an enactment by the national ambulance service on how to carry out first aid, CPR when you have an accident and all that. It was educative and I thought a lot of consideration, a lot of thought went into the programme, into the launch and I was impressed. I was so impressed."

Nii Lante, however, emphasised the inadequacy of the already distributed ambulances compared to the large population of the country.   "It's just that the stock is still not enough, we're about 30 million and we have 300 national ambulances, it's still a drop in the ocean," he stated.

Nii Lante further called on the government and successive governments to increase the number of ambulances in the country.    "I think we should do more, if this government comes back into power, it has to do more. If another government too comes into power, it has to do more. We [Ghana] is not where we should be."   Nii Lante is currently promoting his new song titled: "Champion" an afrobeat song.
