Euroget to submit issues on completion of Kumasi Military Hospital to Defence Ministry

The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has disclosed that Euroget De-Invest, the contractors responsible for the Afari (Kumasi) Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region, have been directed to submit all outstanding financial, legal, and technical issues to the Defence Ministry.
This follows a meeting between the Ministry and the contractors on Wednesday, 19th February 2025, aimed at resolving the bottlenecks that have delayed the project for over six years.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, 20th February, Dr Boamah reiterated the government’s commitment to completing the long-delayed hospital and ensuring it becomes operational by September this year.
“Following our visit to the Afari (Kumasi) Military Hospital last week and our further engagement with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, I promised to complete the hospital and begin its operations in September this year,” he stated.
He emphasised that President John Dramani Mahama's initial vision was for the hospital to be completed by 2018.
However, due to delays under the previous administration, the project has remained unfinished.
“To complete the project, we have subsequently demanded that Euroget formally submit their outstanding issues by the close of day tomorrow.
This will afford the government clarity to scrutinise and contest any concerns if necessary, ensuring cost-effective and lawful decisions towards project completion,” Dr Boamah explained.
The Defence Minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting the public purse while ensuring the hospital becomes fully functional.
“In resetting Ghana for the good people of Ghana, the Mahama government will also ensure the public purse is protected.
The Military Hospital project will be completed and operationalised,” he assured.
