NHIA releases ₵3m claims to healthcare facilities

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced the disbursement of GHS 300 million as claims payment to healthcare facilities across the country.
A statement issued by the NHIA on Tuesday, 11 June 2024 revealed the amount “covers the claims vetted for higher tier facilities.”
According to the NHIA, the payments are within the acceptable “three-month debt period.”
It emphasised that the timely disbursement is aimed at enhancing the “quality of care provided to all NHIS members and support the operational needs of healthcare providers.”
The NHIA also expressed appreciation to healthcare providers for their “cooperation and patience” while assuring them of their continuous efforts to improve the efficiency and timelines of claims “processing and payments.”
