#2020polls: Dumelo calls for recount in Ayawaso West Wuogon

The National Democratic Congress' parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW) constituency, Mr John Dumelo, has officially written to the District Electoral Officer to request a recount of the ballots cast in Monday's election.
The actor-turned-politician said the reason for the recount request is “due to several irregularities” detected in some polling stations within the constituency.
He cited some of the irregularities as the act of swapping his figures with those of his closest contender, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
Attached is a copy of the letter:
Mr Dumelo lost the race to Ms Alhassan of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She polled 39,851 while the award-winning actor polled 37,778.
The independent candidate polled a woeful 108.
More than 105,000 registered voters are in the constituency.
