Abdul-Kabiru Mahama confirmed as Walewale NPP parliamentary candidate

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially confirmed Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama as its parliamentary candidate for the Walewale constituency.
The decision was made unanimously by the National Executive Committee (NEC) at a meeting on Wednesday, 11 September 2024.
The announcement was contained in a press statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua.
According to the statement, Dr. Mahama's confirmation followed the withdrawal of Lariba Zuweira Abudu, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) and one of the two aspirants in the parliamentary primary contest.
"This resulted in Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama becoming the sole aspirant for the contest," the statement read.
The party expressed gratitude to the incumbent MP for her decision to step aside, emphasising the importance of unity in the upcoming electoral race.
"The Party regards in high esteem the decision of Hon. Zuweira to bow out of the race and appeals to all stakeholders of the Walewale constituency to offer their unflinching support to the candidacy of Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama," the statement added.
