Ashie Moore threatened to disqualify Yarboi Annan long before primaries - Nii Lante Vanderpuye

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodioo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has accused the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nii Ashie Moore, of orchestrating the disqualification of Mr Michael Yarboi Annan, one of the aspirants seeking to lead the NDC in the 2024 election in the Odododiodio Constituency.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye alleged that the Regional Chairman had threatened Micheal Yarboi Annan long before the nomination process began, claiming that Mr Moore warned Micheal Yarboi Annan not to pick a nomination form.
According to Mr Vanderpuye, Mr Moore vowed to ensure Micheal Yarboi Annan's disqualification if he proceeded with his candidacy.
Mr Yarboi Annan was disqualified last Monday by the NDC's Functional Executives Committee (FEC) over a disturbance at the party's office and concerns raised about his eligibility.
The party's report cited findings by a special committee established by the FEC, stating that Micheal Yarboi Annan did not meet the criteria of being an active member at the Constituency level for the required four years preceding the date of filing nominations.
Nii Lante, who has declared support for Micheal Yarboi Annan, argued that Yarboi Annan is the only candidate capable of helping the NDC retain the seat after the incumbent exits.
The accusations made by Nii Lante raise concerns about internal party politics and the fairness of the candidate selection process in Odododiodioo.
He made this allegation while speaking on Accra-based Citi FM on Monday, December 4, 2023.
