Awutu Senya East MP joins parliamentary leadership to launch Speaker’s Scholarship
The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has joined Parliamentary leadership and the Nobel International Business School to launch the Speaker’s Scholarship, a new initiative designed to enhance capacity building within Ghana’s Legislature.
The scholarship programme aims to equip Members of Parliament and Parliamentary staff with advanced academic training and research skills to support more informed policymaking and strengthen institutional effectiveness.
According to the organisers, the initiative represents a significant step toward deepening the quality of governance, improving legislative output and ensuring that national decisions are backed by rigorous research and contemporary knowledge.
Speaking at the launch, leaders of Parliament and officials from the Nobel International Business School underscored the importance of continuous learning in modern governance, noting that the scholarship will help close knowledge gaps and promote evidence-based decision-making.
Naa Koryoo described the initiative as a meaningful investment in Ghana’s democratic development, adding that empowering lawmakers with the right skills will ultimately translate into better representation and improved service delivery for citizens.
The Speaker’s Scholarship is expected to support selected MPs and staff annually, offering opportunities for postgraduate studies, executive courses and specialised research programmes aimed at strengthening parliamentary work.
