Bawumia running for president on my ‘good record’ – Akufo-Addo
President Nana Akufo-Addo has said his vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is running for president on his (Akufo-Addo’s) “good record.”
“I believe that first of all, he is waging a good campaign,” the president told France24 in a recent interview.
He added: “He has a message that is resonating especially with the young people of Ghana and secondly, he has a good record to defend.”
According to the president, “Despite the economic difficulties, the Ghanaian people know that in the nearly eight years that we have been in office, we are not wasteful.”
“We did a lot: Major reforms in education, our health system, our road infrastructure, and the development of the digital economy. That’s the key ingredients of the Ghanaian economy that have seen significant improvement and development since we came back,” he asserted.
“So, there’s a record with which he is campaigning,” he stressed.
Mr Akufo-Addo noted: “At the same time, he’s also brought some new ideas to the surface, especially how young people can also now get involved in developing themselves and the nation’s economy and that is what is giving me confidence that he is going to win, certainly that is my hope but I believe that he will win and you’ll remember this discussion when you hear the news that comes out of Accra.”
