COKA urges female journalists to champion peace and unity

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Chairman for Afigya Kwabre South, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has called on female journalists to leverage their platforms to promote peace and unity across the country.
Speaking at his maiden engagement with selected female show hosts, producers, reporters, and editors in the Ashanti Region on August 30, 2025, Odeneho Appiah—popularly known as COKA—emphasised that conflicts in one community often spill over into others, making peace advocacy a national responsibility.
He underscored the vital role of women in national development and pledged his commitment to increasing female representation in leadership positions if elected the Ashanti Regional chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
COKA also highlighted the often-overlooked contributions of women in the media industry, noting that political figures tend to engage more with male journalists.
He expressed confidence that platforms such as his meeting with female journalists would motivate and empower them to continue shaping public discourse.
Additionally, he encouraged journalists who are not yet members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to register, stressing that professional bodies provide crucial support and help shape the standards of media practice.
