Dr Bawumia can’t be angry when he is being criticized-Dr Razak Kojo Opoku

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and strategist for Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s 2028 presidential bid, Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, has criticised former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his reactions to criticisms of the NPP’s performance in government.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Okay FM on Wednesday, Dr. Opoku argued that Dr. Bawumia, as head of the Economic Management Team during his time in office, cannot shy away from accountability.
“The former Vice President cannot appear to get angry whenever he is criticised for his stewardship.
Leadership requires the ability to take both praise and criticism in equal measure,” Dr. Opoku stated.
He accused Dr. Bawumia of attempting to take credit only for the successes of the Akufo-Addo administration while shifting blame for its shortcomings to the former President.
“When it was good, he wanted to be credited.
But when it was bad, he wanted Nana Akufo-Addo to be blamed,” he said.
Dr. Opoku reminded the former Vice President that past leaders of the NPP, including his mentor, President Akufo-Addo, endured harsh criticisms yet showed tolerance.
He stressed that the failures of the previous government cannot be attributed to one individual but were a collective responsibility.
“The Vice President cannot be exonerated from the failures of the NPP in government.
He seems to have his feathers ruffled anytime he is criticised, and that is not the mark of a leader,” Dr. Opoku added.
