COVID-19: 3.6m locally-produced face masks to "flood" Ghana soon – Agyeman-Manu
Millions of locally-produced face masks will soon flood Ghana, Health Minister Kweku Agyeman-Manu has said.
The masks are critical in mitigating the spread of coronavirus which has killed five out of the two hundred eighty-seven confirmed cases.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Mr Agyeman-Manu said: “The President is making all efforts to resource the ministry to ensure that we have adequate protective equipment”.
“In his speech, he [President] mentioned about taking opportunity of the crisis we are in to build local capacity to do some of these things at home.
“As I speak, the ministry of trade has selected five big companies to sew three point six million face masks, these nose masks.
“They’ll start delivering them by tomorrow; we’ll take delivery of about one hundred thousand each day and within the next seven days or so, the whole country will be flooded with these masks”, the minister announced.
