Contractor moves to fix bad Madina roads after Sosu-led protest
Residents of Otinibi-Danfa in the La-Nkwantanang Municipality of the Greater Accra Region will heap a sigh of relief as the company contracted to fix the roads in the area, has moved to the site with the assistance of the former Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, to resume work.
The contractor, together with the former MP, on Thursday, 4 November 2021, moved to the site for work to begin on the roads.
Mr Ebenezer Kwame Boadi, Chief Executive Officer of Keb Construction Limited, explained that he left the site because his materials were being stolen coupled with the constant rainfalls that obstructed the work.
He said work on the roads started in December 2020.
Mr Boadi said the Feeder Roads Department under the Ministry of Roads and Highways decided that he return to the site because the rains were now not as frequent as before.
The former MP, for his part, took the opportunity to thank President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Roads and Highways Minister for their support in having the contractor return to the site.
Mr Saddique Boniface said while he was the MP, “I brought the Roads and Highways Minister, Kwesi Amoako Atta, to Madina three times for him to see for himself the level of roads in the area that needed his attention”.
According to him, when he brought the contractor to the site last year December during the elections, many were those who felt that it was because of the elections.
“When I lost the elections, I still went ahead to push for the contractor to come to the site to complete the job”, he said.
The bad state of the roads prompted a demonstration two weeks ago led by current MP Francis-Xavier Sosu in which some roads were blocked to traffic.
The Ghana Police Service has been on Mr Sosu’s tail ever since that demonstration with an intention to arrest him.
