The Volta National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a forthcoming initiative to provide much-needed relief to the victims affected by the recent flooding caused by the Akosombo and Kpong Dam spillages.

On Friday, October 20, 2023, a special donation of relief items will take place in Sogakope, South Tongu Municipality, as part of a compassionate effort led by the NDC's leadership and the Minority Caucus in Ghana's Parliament.

This charitable endeavour is on behalf of the former President and NDC's Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

The relief beneficiaries encompass the constituencies of North Tongu, Central Tongu, South Tongu, Anlo, Keta, Ketu South, South Dayi, Afadzato South, Kpando, North Dayi, and Asougyaman in the Eastern Region.

In addition to the relief donation, the party's leadership will also take the opportunity to visit some of the hardest-hit communities and settlements to assess the extent of the damage and show solidarity with the affected residents.

The Volta NDC expressed its heartfelt support and solidarity with the flood victims and is unwavering in its commitment to alleviating the hardship caused by this unfortunate man-made disaster.

This was contained in a statement signed by Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze, the NDC Volta Regional Communications Officer.
