Dec. 7 polls: Bawumia gains momentum among first-time voters – Global InfoAnalytics polls reveals

The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is experiencing a notable surge in support among first-time voters, according to a recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics.
This significant shift in voter sentiment, particularly among the younger demographic, is occurring as the December 7 elections approach.
The poll, which surveyed over 7,000 respondents, reveals that a substantial majority of young people now view Dr. Bawumia as the most suitable candidate to lead Ghana.
Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Musah Dankwa, discussed these findings in a media interview, emphasising the impact of Dr. Bawumia’s recent nationwide campaign tour.
“Bawumia’s gain largely came from first-time voters. In the April poll, he was losing by quite a bit but at the moment, he is at par with Mahama on first-time voters,” Mr. Dankwa noted.
According to Mr. Dankwa, “that is where he [Dr.Bawumia] drew his numbers from and they are now at 44 per cent each, so what I can say is that this election will be about the vote of the young voters. Whoever is able to win the minds and hearts of first-time voters will win this election.”
Mr. Dankwa highlighted that first-time voters will be the deciding factor in the upcoming December general elections, a crucial demographic for both major parties.
The poll results suggest that Dr. Bawumia’s efforts to connect with young voters through his campaign tour have been effective.
“The NPP flagbearer’s recent nationwide campaign tour has not only reinvigorated the party but has also played a crucial role in boosting his popularity,” Mr. Dankwa added.
