Dec. 7 polls: Women's development high on NDC's radar – Opoku-Agyemang
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice-Presidential Candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has pledged that an NDC-led government would introduce targeted policies and programmes to enhance women’s empowerment across Ghana.
While engaging traders at the Kejetia Market on Wednesday during her campaign in the Ashanti Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined plans for initiatives like a Women’s Development Bank, a Markets Enhancement Programme, a National Apprenticeship Programme, and a 24-Hour Economy.
These initiatives, she explained, aim to empower Ghanaians, particularly women and young people.
“It’s time we shift our voting habits as women and support leaders who are committed to development,” she said.
“We can’t continue to vote in the same way without seeing the progress we deserve.
We need to support someone like John Dramani Mahama, who has proven his dedication to policies that uplift women.”
Highlighting Mr. Mahama’s accomplishments, she noted that his record as a nation-builder is evident in projects like the modern Kejetia Market, which has greatly benefited traders.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged the market women to vote in large numbers for Mr. Mahama in the December 7 elections, stressing that his leadership would bring the NDC’s empowerment agenda for women to fruition.
