EC committed to maintaining trust of Ghanaians, international community in our electoral process – Jean Mensa
The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering free and fair elections, underscoring its established reputation for credibility and transparency in managing the country's electoral processes.
This assurance comes as various political parties and stakeholders voice concerns ahead of the December, 7 general elections.
In her remarks during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, 1 October 2024, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa highlighted the Commission’s dedication to democratic principles demonstrated in previous elections.
"We have a proven track record of delivering credible elections, and we remain resolute in ensuring that the upcoming 2024 elections will be no different," she asserted.
The EC Chairperson emphasised that the Commission has implemented robust measures to tackle concerns surrounding the voters’ register and overall election preparations.
She called on political parties and the public to work together with the Commission to facilitate a smooth and transparent electoral process.
Reiterating the EC's openness to scrutiny, Mrs. Mensa welcomed constructive feedback that could enhance Ghana's democratic system.
"We are committed to maintaining the trust of both Ghanaians and the international community in our electoral process," she added.
