Fix Madina roads demo: Police chase Francis-Xavier Sosu in church as he preached

Church members of the Believers’ House of Prayer Ministries had to run helter-skelter on Sunday, 31 October 2021 as undercover police officers stormed the worship centre in an attempt to arrest one of the congregants – Madina MP Francis-Xavier Sosu.
The police entered the premises of the church as the MP preached the word of God.
Some church members joined forces with loyalists of the MP’s party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to frustrate the arrest attempt by the police.
The head pastor of the church, Bishop Chris Ablordey, later told journalists in an interview that “some members took to their heels and I called them back”.
“It was worrying but we give God all the glory that there was no casualty.”
Narrating how the whole drama unfolded, the head pastor said: “I saw some unusual faces and one of the ushers alerted me that there are some security officers outside and that they wanted to see me”.
“I went out and they said they were here to arrest Lawyer Sosu. I asked for their warrant. They said they don’t have it but showed me their ID. I told them he was preaching, ‘so let him finish preaching’. When he finished preaching, I delivered the message to him. He was with his police bodyguard and a driver, so, they went out,” he said.
Mr Sosu led a demonstration a few days ago which resulted in a road blockade in his constituency.
He accused the police of manhandling him in a first failed attempt to arrest him.
He, subsequently, petitioned the Speaker of parliament over the matter, who referred it to the Privileges Committee.
