The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Oppoku, is participating in the 2025 World Food Prize Summit taking place in Des Moines, Iowa, United States.
The annual event, officially known as the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, brings together world leaders, policymakers, scientists, farmers, and industry experts to discuss strategies for achieving global food security.
This year’s summit, running from October 20 to 24, 2025, is being held at the Iowa Events Centre under the theme “SOILutions for Security.” The theme underscores the critical role of soil health and sustainable agricultural practices in strengthening food and nutrition security amid global climate challenges.
Mr. Oppoku joins other Ministers of Agriculture, researchers, and agribusiness leaders to deliberate on innovative policies and technologies that can transform food systems in developing economies.
His participation highlights Ghana’s growing commitment to sustainable agriculture and the government’s efforts to enhance food production and export capacity.
The World Food Prize Week of events also features “Deep Dives at the Dialogue,” side sessions, farm tours, and networking opportunities designed to foster partnerships across the agricultural value chain.
The summit remains one of the most significant gatherings in the global agricultural calendar, honouring the legacy of Nobel Laureate Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, whose work laid the foundation for modern food security initiatives.
