The Member of Parliament for Ewutu Senya East, Miss Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has addressed concerns surrounding her recent comments about the ongoing investigation into incidents of election-related violence in Ghana.

In a statement to the media, the MP clarified that her remarks were not meant to suggest that no attacks occurred during the elections.

Rather, she sought to emphasise the need for a thorough and fair investigation by the task force assigned to probe the incidents.

Meanwhile, Hawa Koomson, a former MP, has recounted her personal experiences of feeling threatened during the election period, describing the tense atmosphere and the emotional toll it took on her and her team.

She urged investigators to approach their work impartially, ensuring that their findings are based strictly on facts and evidence.

“I never said there were no attacks. What I meant was that we must focus on the truth and allow the investigative bodies to do their work fairly,” she stated.

The MP also expressed her appreciation to the President, the Minister for the Interior, and the Speaker of Parliament for their leadership and support in addressing the issue.

She further extended gratitude to security agencies and members of her constituency for maintaining calm throughout the process.

Miss Koryoo Okunor concluded by calling for reconciliation and unity, stressing the need to move forward as one people despite political differences.

“I see myself as a mother for all — whether you voted for me or not, we are one family. Peace and development must always come first,” she affirmed.
