LPG commends EC for providing free hard drive to political parties
The General Secretary of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Jerry Owusu Appau, has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for supplying political parties with a hard drive containing the certified voter register for the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Describing the move as a “novelty,” Mr. Appau applauded the EC’s initiative, emphasizing that it marks a significant improvement in the election process.
In an interview on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ghana Yensom Morning Show with host Kayire Kwesi Appea-Apreku on Thursday, November 7, 2024, Mr. Appau explained that, in previous years, political parties had to bear the cost of purchasing their own hard drives to obtain the certified voter register.
He praised the EC for removing this burden, adding, “This has never happened in the annals of the EC.”
Mr. Appau encouraged the EC to continue such thoughtful measures, as they alleviate logistical and financial challenges for stakeholders.
Regarding the absence of a breakdown in the certified voter register, he called for patience, noting that the EC has assured parties that the detailed breakdown will be provided soon.
