Mahama confident in polls predicting NDC win, warns supporters against complacency

John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has responded to new polls projecting his lead in the upcoming general elections.
The NDC flagbearer urged his supporters to remain vigilant despite the favourable predictions.
During his campaign tour in the North East Region on Wednesday, 2 October 2024, Mr. Mahama expressed confidence in polls by Fitch Solutions and Global InfoAnalytics, but cautioned against complacency.
Fitch Solutions, a UK-based rating agency, has forecasted an NDC victory, while a recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics shows Mr. Mahama maintaining a significant lead over his closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The NDC flagbearer highlighted the reliability of these projections, stating: "All the credible opinion polls have predicted that NDC is going to win the elections."
However, he was quick to remind his supporters of the importance of staying alert throughout the election process.
"Of course, we must not be complacent. We must protect every single person’s vote. All of us are going to be polling agents."
Mr. Mahama also accused the NPP of spreading misleading information through fake polls.
"NPP and the government have started publishing fake opinion polls, that have no methodology, opinion polls where you cannot find the people who did the research," Mr. Mahama claimed.
"Ignore all those fake opinion polls. Every credible institution—Economist Intelligence Unit, Fitch Solutions, Global InfoAnalytics—shows that the NDC is going to win the elections," Mr. Mahama emphasised.
According to Global InfoAnalytics, Mr. Mahama leads with 51.1 per cent of the vote, positioning him favourably against Dr. Bawumia. Fitch Solutions' report also predicts a Mahama victory, citing ongoing economic difficulties faced by the NPP.
Despite these projections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team has dismissed the Global InfoAnalytics poll, questioning its credibility and downplaying its significance.
