NDC National Chairman urges Kasoa branch to end divisions
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on party members in Kasoa to put aside internal differences and unite for the development of the Awutu Senya East Constituency.
Speaking to the media during his Thank You Tour of the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah urged supporters aligned with both the Member of Parliament and the Constituency Chairman to end the ongoing wrangling that has affected the local party since the December 7, 2024, general election.
The Kasoa branch of the NDC has experienced internal divisions, with factions emerging around the MP, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, and the Constituency Chairman, Stephen Ofosu Agyare.
Party insiders say the dispute has created tension within the local structure and risks undermining future electoral prospects.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah warned that continued divisions could stall development efforts and potentially cost the party its parliamentary seat in future elections.
“Division retards development,” he said, urging party leaders and supporters to “let everything go and work hand in hand” for the benefit of both the constituency and the party.
Meanwhile, MPfor the area, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor used the occasion to address allegations levelled against her by some party members.
She denied claims that she had withheld appointments and job opportunities meant for party faithful, as well as allegations that she had received funds from the National Chairman and kept them for personal use.
The MP described the claims as false and intended to tarnish her image within the party, emphasising her commitment to serving her constituents and supporting party activities
