NDC ProForum to engage with diaspora at Birmingham conference

The Professional Forum (ProForum) of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans to deepen collaboration with Ghana’s missions abroad as part of efforts to reconnect with the country’s diaspora community and harness their expertise for national development.
As part of this initiative, the UK and Europe branch of the NDC ProForum will host the Diaspora Reset Engagement Conference (DREC) in Birmingham, United Kingdom, in November 2025.
The three-day conference, themed “Connecting Global Talent to Local Transformation,” will bring together professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and leaders from Ghana, the UK, and across Europe to deliberate on ways to align diaspora knowledge and resources with Ghana’s development goals.
Convener of the NDC ProForum UK and Diaspora, Kenneth Johnson, described the conference as a key moment in the party’s vision to rebuild the nation’s economy and restore growth.
“This year’s DREC is more than a conference; it’s a collective reset,” he said. “As the NDC government works to reposition the country, it is essential that we engage the global Ghanaian community to contribute their ideas, skills, and investments.”
According to Mr. Johnson, the event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and sector-specific sessions covering areas such as governance, investment, youth empowerment, and diaspora policy.
He added that the engagement is being organised in collaboration with the Ghana High Commission in the UK and is expected to strengthen ties between the Ghanaian diaspora and key institutions back home.
The 2025 DREC, he noted, will also emphasise the strategic role of Ghanaians abroad in driving innovation, creating opportunities, and fostering unity within the global Ghanaian community.
