NDC communuications bureau in tatters: Takyi Addo reveals

Takyi Addo, Co-Founder of the Ghana Federation of Traders, has strongly criticized the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication Bureau, accusing them of prioritizing personal interests over the party's collective agenda.
According to him, the bureau’s leadership has abandoned their communication responsibilities and are instead lobbying for government appointments, leaving the party’s communication strategy in disarray.
“As we speak now, there is no communication bureau because its leaders are busy trekking the corridors of power in search of appointments,” he said.
Speaking on Accra 100.5 FM’s ‘Ghana Yensom’ show, hosted by Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Friday, March 7, 2025, Mr. Addo lamented that the party's communication wing has been struggling for months due to a lack of coordination.
“There is no coordinated communication. Everyone is doing something just to catch the eye of those making appointments,” he stated.
He also expressed disappointment over recent government appointments, claiming that some individuals who played key roles in the party’s communication efforts during the last elections have been sidelined.“Some of those who worked tirelessly for the party’s victory have been ignored, while others who were nowhere near the campaign are now smiling with appointment letters,” he fumed.
Mr. Addo, who also serves as the Director of Communication for the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, voiced frustration over his exclusion from government appointments.
“No NDC communicator has worked harder than me, yet they have shut me out!” he declared.
Despite his grievances, he revealed that he has remained restrained out of respect for President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President, and the Chief of Staff.
However, he hinted that if the trend continues, some overlooked party members might be forced to take action.
“If not for my respect for the President, his Vice, and the Chief of Staff, some of us would have taken matters into our own hands to get the recognition we deserve,” he warned.
He questioned the rationale behind some appointments, arguing that genuine party communicators have been ignored while others with no grassroots presence have been rewarded.
“Who worked harder than me? Who is more heard in villages than I am?” he queried.
His remarks have intensified ongoing discussions within the NDC regarding party loyalty, recognition, and strategic appointments within the new administration.
