NDC reaffirms President Mahama’s commitment to fight illegal mining

The Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Msutapha Gbande, has reiterated the party’s full support for President John Dramani Mahama’s uncompromising stance against illegal mining and other activities that endanger Ghana’s natural resources.
Speaking in Sunyani at the closing ceremony of the training programme for Operation National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat(NAIMOS), a consolidated task force established to combat illegal mining—the Deputy General Secretary described the President’s commitment to protecting water bodies and forest reserves as “unparalleled.”
He emphasised that the President’s agenda is a shared responsibility, and the NDC as a party is fully aligned with the fight.
“As the acting General Secretary of the NDC, I want to stress that we are all involved, and every member of the party must take note,” he said.
He added that with the collaboration of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Operation NAIMOS is a critical step toward restoring Ghana’s environment from the devastation caused by illegal mining.
“President Mahama must succeed,” he declared, underscoring that the sustainability of Ghana’s water and forest resources depends on the collective commitment of government, party members, and citizens.
