The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, has paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Ofori Portuphy, a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the first National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

Mr. Portuphy, who also served as a former national chairman of the NDC, welcomed Dr. Bampoe to his residence in what was described as an engaging and cordial interaction.

Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Bampoe cited an African proverb, “Those who respect the elderly pave their own road toward success,” and emphasised the value of drawing wisdom from elder statesmen.

He indicated that he would continue visiting Mr. Portuphy and other senior figures from time to time to learn from their experiences and insights.

The visit was facilitated by Mrs. Oforiwa Portuphy, Deputy Director of the NHIA in charge of CPC Accra, whom Dr. Bampoe thanked for making the engagement possible.

The NHIA CEO’s outreach underscores the importance of honouring national elders and preserving institutional memory in Ghana’s governance and development journey.
