Massive support for Dr Bawumia in Gushegu

Hundreds of delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday, January 11, converged in the Gushegu Constituency in the Northern Region to welcome Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as he continued his campaign ahead of the party’s internal primaries.

Dr Bawumia, the former Vice President of Ghana and the NPP’s 2024 Presidential Candidate, is seeking re-election to lead the party into the 2028 General Elections and is currently touring the Northern Regions to engage party faithful.

The visit to Gushegu, which is represented in Parliament by Alhassan Tampuli, the former Deputy Transport Minister, formed part of Dr Bawumia’s efforts to consolidate grassroots support.

Various party groups, including Electoral Area Coordinators, chairmen of polling stations speaking on behalf of polling station executives, as well as both old and newly elected constituency executives, came out to publicly declare their support for his candidature.

Addressing the gathering, Alhassan Tampuli endorsed Dr Bawumia, describing him as a leader with the competence and credibility to lead the party forward.

He stressed that the backing from NPP Members of Parliament in that part of the region was based on merit rather than sentiment.

“We are not supporting Dr Bawumia blindly,” he said. “We are supporting him based on competence, vision and integrity.”

Dr Bawumia thanked the delegates and party supporters for the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to uniting the party and strengthening its democratic values.

He emphasised that unity, credibility and a clear sense of purpose would be critical as the NPP prepares for the 2028 General Elections, urging members to remain focused and committed to the party’s success
