NPP has departed from its UP tradition – Failed Ashanti Regional NPP chair aspirant

A prominent member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Adum Bawuah, has criticised the party's leadership for allowing corruption and nepotism to flourish, claiming that faceless individuals have hijacked the party's fortunes.
Speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show, hosted by Otafrigya Kwesi Appea-Apreku on Accra 100.5 FM, Mr Bawuah expressed his disappointment with the current state of the NPP.
Mr Bawuah accused the party's officers of rampant corruption, alleging that they cannot undertake significant projects, such as building a cathedral for the Lord, without seeking personal financial gain.
He expressed amazement at how the party's leadership has remained silent, allowing greed to take root.
"The rot in the party has grown to a peak," Mr Bawuah lamented, "with party leaders looking on as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo tries to impose Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, his Vice President, as the party's flagbearer. When did Dr. Bawumia join the party to be rewarded in such a manner, all because people have refused to speak about the ills in the party."
Mr Bawuah, who unsuccessfully contested for the position of Ashanti Regional Chairman on the NPP's ticket, expressed his frustration with the system.
He warned that he would not leave the party but would stay and speak the truth.
He urged prominent figures like Mr. Alan Kyerematen to join forces with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ensure the NPP is ousted from power in the December 7, general elections.
Mr Bawuah also questioned the integrity of the party's current leaders, stating, "These are not genuine people with the United Party (UP) tradition."
He emphasized that greed and corruption have taken over the party, allowing unidentified individuals to manipulate its direction.
