Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed surprise at former President John Mahama for seeking prayers from religious leaders he had previously criticized as hypocrites for praying for the NPP and its running mate.

Speaking at a grand durbar of chiefs, religious leaders, and NPP supporters in Afrancho, located in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh noted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has repeatedly shown a lack of respect for traditional authorities, which he believes should be a cause for concern for all Ghanaians.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, was met with an enthusiastic reception from the crowd, reflecting his strong grassroots connection and the growing momentum of the NPP’s campaign.

Chiefs, religious leaders, and party supporters present at the event showered praises on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, expressing their full confidence in his leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Napo highlighted the significance of traditional leaders and clergy in nation-building. He emphasized that the NPP recognizes their invaluable role and will continue to seek their support and blessings during the party’s campaign efforts.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh reassured the chiefs and religious dignitaries that their voices would be heard and valued in governance under the NPP.

Contrasting the NPP’s approach with that of the NDC, he criticized the opposition for failing to show respect and appreciation for traditional institutions.

He urged the electorate to support the NPP in the upcoming elections, citing the party’s achievements in infrastructure and development under successive NPP governments.

As part of his campaign tour, Dr. Opoku Prempeh visited key locations in Afrancho and Boamang in the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency, engaging with locals in a "meet and greet" session.

He also paid a courtesy call to the chief of Ahenkro, where he reiterated the NPP’s commitment to working closely with traditional and religious leaders to foster sustainable development and progress for the nation.
