Former Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to ensure transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to electoral laws in the conduct and declaration of the parliamentary results in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

Dr. Boamah urged the Jean Mensa-led EC to uphold the principles of fairness, especially in light of disputed polling station results within the constituency during the December 7 parliamentary elections.

He noted that the Commission must rerun elections in affected areas due to the unavailability of pink sheets, critical documents used in collating election results.

“Electoral Commission Ghana, re-run the disputed polling stations because you just do not have the pink sheets,” he said, emphasising the importance of procedural integrity.

Dr Boamah, now the Minister for Defence, made this remark in a statement reacting to the Minority's march to the police headquarters on Tuesday  for the results of the disputed Ablekuma North Constituency to be released

He also cautioned the EC to learn from the controversies surrounding the Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) constituencies during the 2020 elections, where several traditional areas were left without parliamentary representation due to what he described as the actions and inactions of both the EC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr. Boamah emphasised that democratic governance depends on three core principles: ensuring that every vote counts, every voice is heard, and every citizen is represented.

He concluded by calling on Ghanaians to collectively demand transparency and accountability from the Electoral Commission to protect the integrity of the country’s democratic processes.
